Mart van Schijndel (1943-1999) started his own architectural design firm after finishing his Bachelor of Arts at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in 1968. His work consists of a lot of different architectural- and interior designs. For most of the architectural projects Mart designed the furniture and lighting himself too. Besides running his architectural firm, Mart also lectured at prominent Art and Architecture Institutes in the Netherlands and Germany.

Geometrical forms and clear simplicity are characteristic for Mart's work. He experimented gladly with new materials and techniques and reached thereby simple solutions for complex problems.

The products designed by Mart were put on the market under the brand name MARTECH. The Delta Vase is the only product that to this date is still being sold in shops.
